Since his arrival on the Genoa bench, Alberto Gilardino has been able to lift a prestigious square by registering 40 points in 18 games and getting 10 clean sheets. The Rossoblù currently occupy second place in the standings at -4 from leading Frosinone and are very close to achieving a great record.
According to reports in “La Gazzetta dello Sport,” the former Viola striker could become the first coach to achieve promotion the year after the Ligurian team was relegated to Serie B.
Genoa has been relegated nine times in its history, and the last time it succeeded in the feat of immediately rising again within a year was in 1935.
