Real Madrid wins Euroleague, beats Olympiacos

With a resounding 7-0 run in the last 2’13”, Real Madrid won its 11th top European basketball cup between the Champions Cup and Euroleague by beating Olympiacos Piraeus 79-78 at the Zalgiris Arena in Kaunas.

Decisive were first a two-point basket and then a triple by former Olimpia Milano Sergio “Chacho” Rodriguez and especially Sergio Llull’s overtaking two-point basket with three seconds left.

For the Spaniards 15 points and 9 assists by Rodriguez and 13 points and 10 rebounds by Walter Tavares, for the Greeks Sasha Vezenkov’s 29 points and 9 rebounds were useless. In the consolation final Monaco beat Barcelona 78-66.
