Egan Bernal definitely wants to put a terrible period behind him. “Returning to the Tour has always been an important goal for me,” the Colombian of INEOS Grenadiers was keen to emphasize. “I am thrilled to be able to relive every kilometer of this race. I am sure that many people have been following everything that has happened to me since my accident in January last year and the effort I made to overcome the greatest test of my life. Being part of this year’s Tour team reassures me that I’m on the right track to get back to my best.”

“This race is also an opportunity for me to show my gratitude and commitment to the team that has consistently supported me throughout, to thank every person who has helped me, from the nurses who took care of me in the hospital, the doctors, my friends, family, teammates and INEOS,” Bernal added. Above all, I want to take this opportunity to inspire people and show them that even if all seems lost, we can trust in God. Be strong, because life is only one and we must appreciate the second chances we are given and take advantage of every second.”
