Trento, here is the long for coach Molin
Here’s the long one for Molin
Dolomiti Energia Trentino has announced that it has signed an agreement for the 2022-23 season with Darion Atkins: the American class of ’92 goes to reinforce the bianconeri’s long sector bringing along with technique and athleticism also an important wealth of experience gained in the major European leagues in recent years.
Born on September 17, 30 years ago in Clinton, 203 centimeters for 105 kilograms, Darion is a product of the University of Virginia: with the Cavaliers he plays for four seasons (the last one at 7.6 points and 6.0 rebounds average), then after a taste of G-League with the Westchester Knicks comes the “landing” in Europe.
In 2016 Atkins plays in Israel in Hapoel Holon, with whom he has a convincing rookie season averaging 13.6 points and 8.6 rebounds. In Holon Darion will also play in 2018-19 (12.3 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.3 stoppages per game) after a year in France in Strasbourg where he wins the National Cup contributing in 34 official games with 9.9 points and 5.3 rebounds.
After splitting his time between Tenerife and Bamberg in the 2019-20 season, the one prematurely interrupted by the pandemic, Atkins starred in an excellent season in Turkey at Fethiye (13.3 points and 7.4 rebounds average) that earned him a move to Niners Chemnitz. In the Bundesliga last year Darion travels to average 11.8 points and 6.4 rebounds in 32 official games, shooting 56 percent from the field and 30.2 percent from three on 43 attempts.
“We welcome a player who will play an important role in our long department: Darion is a veteran of Europe, he has played in leagues and cups often leaving his mark. We sign Atkins because of his technical qualities, his experience and because we think he is a good fit for the group we are building. Atkins brings us presence in the area as a dowry, he is a pliant player who goes well with the characteristics of his departmental companions and is functional to the technical design of the team,” said the coach of the HCL team.
