Federica Brignone, Marta Bassino, Sofia Goggia, Roberta Melesi, Lara Della Mea, Laura Pirovano, Asja Zenere, Elisa Platino the summoned for the women’s giant slalom in Lienz on Thursday, December 28 (first run at 10 am, second at 1 pm with live TV coverage on Raisport and Eurosport), the fifth seasonal World Cup event between the wide gates.
The next day, Friday, Dec. 29, it will be the turn of the fifth slalom (first run at 10 a.m., second at 1 p.m.), which will feature Martina Peterlini, Marta Rossetti, Lara Della Mea, Beatrice Sola, Anita Gulli, Lucrezia Lorenzi and Vera Tschurtschenthaler, who will be joined for the occasion by Federica Brignone. As a reminder, Italy can field up to seven athletes (plus Elisa Platino who has the fixed place) in the giant slalom and seven (plus Beatrice Sola who has the fixed place) in the slalom.
The Italian team boasts three successes in the Austrian resort with Brignone in giant slalom in 2017, Chiara Costazza in slalom in 2007 and Denise Karbon in giant slalom also in 2007. To these are added seven other podiums: Marta Bassino second in giant slalom in 2019, Brignone second in giant slalom in 2011, Manuela Moelgg second in giant slalom in 2009, Karen Puzter second in giant slalom in 2001, Deborah Compagnoni second in slalom in 1997 and third again in slalom in 1997 and Nicole Gius third in giant slalom in 2007.
