Lega Serie A, Casini’s harsh response to Gravina
Gravina branded as "mass distraction" the League’s proposal
There now seems to be an ongoing dispute between the Lega Serie A and the FIGC. The former is demanding moreù autonomy, based on the (successful) Premier League model. Through President Casini, the Lega Serie A sent a proposal to the FIGC in which, in fact, it pointed out that it was time to give more space and recognition to the Serie A League.
A proposal that did not è please Gravina at all. The FIGC president è was clear: "When you launch these proclamations, you have to be careful, you have to study… We have to focus on activities that do good for Italian soccer. This proposal è mass distraction", his harsh words. The counter-response of Casini himself was not long in coming.
"We were all baffled by Gravina’s response – Casini’s words to Radio1 – In the end, Serie A’s proposal è was calm and collaborative, not confrontational. The response seems to give no consideration to what è the most important component. Underlying all this is a very well-known principle, namely no taxation without representation. Serie A finances the whole system and it is è unthinkable that the federal governance does not give Serie A a fair role at least as far as Serie A".
