Borussia Dortmund in quarters, Psv knockout
Borussia Dortmund-Psv Eindhoven 2-1
Dortmund continued its brilliant run in the Champions League, overcoming Psv in the quarterfinals after winning the group with Psg, AC Milan and Newcastle. In a dominated match, Borussia won 2-0 at home. Sancho opened the scoring on 3', followed by Reus on 95'. Psv, unable to win in Germany for decades, failed to reverse the trend.
Dortmund started strong with Sancho, Brandt and Malen, while Psv tried to fight back in the second half with Lozano, but to no avail. Dortmund came close to doubling the score several times, although the pace dropped in the second half. Despite a few attempts by Psv, Dortmund remained steadfast, sealing the second goal in the second half and guaranteeing qualification to the quarterfinals, while Psv exited the competition.
There will thus be three nations with two qualified teams in the quarterfinals of the Champions 2023-24: England (Manchester City and Arsenal), Spain (Real Madrid and Barcelona) and Germany (Bayern Munich and Dortmund).
