Women’s volleyball, two surprises in a few hours
Two surprises in a few hours
Wednesday night was surprising for Italian volleyball: in the A1 playoff semifinals Conegliano lost after 45 matches without defeat, Scandicci, on the other hand, won the final after beating Milan again: 3-0 in the second match of the series.
Prosecco DOC Imoco Volleyball ended in Novara its winning streak that had lasted since May 11, exactly 45 matches without defeat before Wednesday night’s loss to Igor, its all-time rival, which was able to win 3-2 in a tough battle and take the series to game 3 of the playoff that will take place Saturday night at 8 p.m:30 at Palaverde and will give one of the two teams the pass to the Scudetto Final where Savino del Bene Scandicci already qualified, in its first final after eliminating Allianz Milano with a double 3-0 win in the other semifinal.
These are the words of coach Barbolini post-game: "Play offs are like this, you play every three days and it can change everything, I think the girls were very good because in the first and second set we were down and they put on theì and played point to point, knowing then to accept to be recovered even in the third. We made few mistakes and now we are 1-0, but let us remember that last year we also won Race-1 and then we watched the final. This year we will have to be better and try to close immediately in Milan, but we have to know that the series è long and every set è long and drawn. Small things can make a difference, today we were better, for’little changes in the evaluation of the opponent, which certainly è one of the best teams in the world".
