Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs will make his debut next Saturday in Jacksonville, Florida, in a 100-meter challenge that also features three of his training partners, USA’s Trayvon Bromell, Canada’s Andre De Grasse and Japan’s Hakim Sani Brown.
Jacobs'last outing in the 100 meters, Fidal recalls, was on Sept. 10 at the Zagreb meet. He is competing in the East Coast Relays event, on the track at Hodges Stadium in the University of North Florida, which has hosted his training sessions with coach Rana Reider since last fall.
Also announced on the startlists are Frenchman Christophe Lemaitre, Jamaican Ryiem Forde, Brazilians Erik Cardoso and Felipe Bardi, and Chinese Xie Zhenye.
Also on Jacobs's agenda are the World Relays in Nassau (May 4-5) to qualify for the Olympics with Italy's 4×100 relay team, the Rome Sprint Festival on May 18 at the Stadio dei Marmi on his return to Italy, theMay 28 effort at the Golden Spike in Ostrava, Czech Republic, and the big event at the European Championships in Rome with the Saturday night, June 8, that puts the 100-meter gold medal up for grabs and the final night, June 12, that awards the relay title.
