Jannik Sinner speaks out on Carlos Alcaraz and the future
Jannik Sinner confirms his thoughts on Carlos Alcaraz
Jannik Sinner, during an interview with the 'Financial Times' conducted before the Madrid tournament but published on Saturday by the British economic-financial newspaper, spoke, among the various topics touched upon, also about the dualism with the'other great talent of his generation, Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, with whom he lives a relationship of friendship and rivalryà at the same time.
"I think it is really nice to see a young man capable of achieving something great, the sport needs just that,” Sinner said. “Carlos and I have a great relationship, on and off the court. We always give everything we have and we also try to entertain the public. He then has spectacular shots, è a pleasure to watch him play".
The rivalryè on the court è also a stimulus to overcome all one's limits: "I am training so much – confirmed the South Tyrolean, I am more in the gym than on the court. I, on the other hand, have to be strong and stable, and I think one of the reasons for my extra step is also strengthening from the physical".
Now Sinner è is busy in Madrid but the next big goals are Roland Garros and Wimbledon (explicitly mentioned) and the Olympic Games (in this case, Sinner's presence still has to be officially confirmed): "My motivation è very high – explained the current world No. 2, talking about the immediate future -. Compared to a year ago my approach è completely different, because even on a mental level I know I will be able to do certain things. I always believed in it before, too, but when you show that you can do it è exhilarating".
