Iga Swiatek extols Rafa Nadal and speaks out about the injuries to Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz

A few days after winning the Madrid tournament and making her debut at the Internazionali d'Italia, world number one Iga Swiatek, among other topics covered in the press conference, spoke out on the forfeits of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner and the continuing physical problems the players have suffered due to the busy schedule. In addition, the Polish player also had words of praise for Rafael Nadal.

"Nadal's legacy è immense. It's something he has built up over the years and it's hard to even imagine. Definitely è a role model. Seeing him play in Paris è always special for everyone. I am sure that right now he is really determined in every tournament he participates in" began the Polish player.

"I think that overall tennis has become moreù challenging as a sport. We are also focused on improving our physicality. Sometimes because of that you try to preserve your health. It's hard to compare men&#39s tennis on clay to that on concrete. I am not an expert and I don&#39t know what is the reason behind this progressive increase in injuries, like Sinner and Alcaraz. Because of the length of the tournaments, I think the Tour is much more challenging. This is also true for the women’s circuit" continued the world number one.

"This è life on the Tour. È crazy to be in Madrid, to pack up after that final and come to Rome. I am happy to be here, because Ié love this place. I trained this morning and it is definitely a challenge to be able to adapt to the playing conditions. I celebrate one day, then in my head I am ready to go again for another tournament. This time I wanted to celebrate becauseé I fought soé hard to win" added the 2001-class tennis player.

"I don’t expect to be fresh in Rome. I was more tired at’the beginning of the Stuttgart tournament than the final played in Madrid. It will depend on how the matches go. I know that if I go ahead in the tournament, I will still have days off where I might not even train. We will plan things differently than last season because weé are concerned. I love this tournament, the different feelings it can give. The nature around us, the fans. They are everywhere here and they are very loud. I feel comfortable on these courts" concluded Iga Swiatek.
