Rome: Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani get off to a good start in doubles

Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini’s journey in the women’s doubles draw of the Internazionali d’Italia 2024 tennis tournament begins with a’swing of emotions. The Italian pair, in fact, è imposed themselves in a comeback over the duo formed by Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Ellen Perez with the score of 5-7 7-6 10-7. 

In the first fraction, the Italian women found the break in the third game, then the Italian duo managed to extend their lead to 5-2. From that moment, Paolini and Errani began to decline in terms of concreteness and after squandering as many as seven set points, the number two seeded pair managed first to equalize and then overturn the result winning the first set 7-5.

In the second partial, the match's inertia è still on the side of the pair formed by Melichar-Martinez and Perez, who in a short time place two breaks and take a 4-0 lead. However, came the reaction from the two blues, who first managed to recover the disadvantage and then take the match to the tie-break, won by the hosts with a score of 8-6.

In the super tie-break the decisive stretch is placed by the Italian pair, who after the first change of court get three consecutive points bringing it to 6-3. From that moment, Errani and Paolini manage to manage the lead until the final 10-7.

In the second round, the Emilian and the Tuscan will face off in the Italian derby against the pair composed of Anastasia Abbagnato and Aurora Zantedeschi.
