Giro d'Italia: Paret-Peintre wins 10th stage, Tadej Pogacar firmly in pink
Valentin Paret-Peintre triumphs in the tenth stage of the Giro d'Italia 2024, the 142-kilometer Pompei-Cusano Mutri (Boccca della Selva). The cyclist of the Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team, after catching up with Jan Tratnik in the final, è managed to place the decisive sprint getting his first career victory with a lead of more than 30 seconds over compatriot Romain Bardet.
Italy also smiles, managing to place as many as three bishops in the top 10: Andrea Bagioli (fourth), Domenico Pozzovivo (eighth) and Nicola Conci (ninth). Slovenian Tadej Pogacar is firmly confirmed in the pink jersey and at the top of the general classification.
"To be honest, I can’t describe what I feel now. È unbelievable. I was in a breakaway to get a good result and instead I am here celebrating. I grew up watching Romain Bardet fight for the podium at the Tour de France. He made me dream of becoming a professional cyclist. To beat him today è incredible. After seeing the profile of the race, I knew I had to attack in the last 4 km, because é it was the most difficult part, and so I did.
