Us Open, Giulio Zeppieri’s dream is quickly broken
After a dominating first set, the Roman fell under the Frenchman’s blows
Rebounding from his untimely exit at the San Marino tournament, the first played after his exploits in Umag, Giulio Zeppieri seems to have lost the magic touch admired in Croatia. Engaged in the first round of qualifiers at the Us Open, the left-hander easily won the first partial 6-1 against transalpine Hugo Grenier, but then lost his confidence and his game, surrendering 6-3 6-4 in the match.
Victory instead for Franco Agamenone, who ruled 4-6 6-3 6-1 against Argentine Francisco Comesana (world number 217): the Italian-Argentine, in the second round of the main draw qualifying draw, will face Italian Roberto Marcora, who beat Argentine Genaro Alberto Olivieri 6-4 6-1.
In the other matches involving Italian tennis players, Francesco Passaro, Raul Brancaccio, Riccardo Bonadio and Stefano Travaglia also won, while Andrea Pellegrino and Luca Nardi’s path was immediately interrupted, beaten by Dmitry Kopko and Dimitar Kuzmanov, respectively.
