The death of Luca Salvadori (following his accident at the Frohburg circuit in Germany last Sept. 15) saddened everyone. Rovelli, his rival in the National Trophy 1000 championship, wanted to pay tribute to his departed friend with a choice that moved everyone.

Rovelli, through the social channel Instagram, let it be known that he will not participate in the last two races of the championship, so as to leave the title to the rider who passed away last September 15. A beautiful gesture, a way to allow Salvadori to remain in the event's roll of honor forever.

"Luca, it has been years since our paths have crossed on the track but never before have we battled like this year. We still had two races ahead of us, two opportunities to challenge each other once again and continue to grow together. But today, for me, the championship ends here. There is no point in continuing without you, on the track, without your drive, your talent. I would have liked to celebrate you in a different way, to shake your hand and tell you in person that you were the best. Thank you for every moment we had together. I love you”, Rovelli’s message.

It should be recalled that Salvadori had triumphed in the first four races of the season in the National Trophy 1000 and was, therefore, well on his way to winning the championship, which he cared so much about. Rovelli decided that title rightfully belongs to him.
