Born in Milan, when she was six years old she moved with her family to Valle d'Aosta, in La Salle, to indulge the dream of her mother, Ninna Quario, a former Italian blue skier and journalist, to live in the mountains and in nature.  Federica Brignone’s winning parabola, who grew up in her mother’s footsteps, starts from the Courmayeur Ski Club, and even earlier from the trajectories traced behind the tails of dadà Daniele.

"He was also a skier. He was the most gifted sportsman in the family. My brother, on the other hand, was the born champion, because I did not win anything as a child. The competitive spirit I had, I can assure you. Forò I did not have great results.  I liked to be with company, I enjoyed it. I really liked being with other children, playing. Then when it was time for competition I was super-hyper competitive – that was always – forò I did it to be with the group, experience the communityà".

Highly competitive, discreet sports DNA, the “Tiger” of La Salle traces together with Buffa and Ferri her entire career, from moving to Valle d’Aosta to winning the World Cup, sharing the challenges she faced on her way to success, the difficultiesà and fears, but also the lightness with which she has always lived her love for the sport and her commitment to environmental sustainability; with the serenityà and the determination of someone who wanted to take the professional skiing road on her own, until discovering herself almost by chance as a true protagonist of the sport.

"To everyone’s surprise I had qualified for the internationals and everyone: “But who è this one? We have never seen her, just never seen her at the Italian level”. That year, with number 39, I won the Italian Super G Championships. And I understood it.  I started trying to feel the speed. I have always been someone who tried to ski his own way, all on the edges, very hooked on the snow. I like to make turns, I don’t want to feel the ski almost sliding. For me è like I have a compass under my feet.  Based on what I feel under my feet I act accordingly".

On snow, Federica Brignone è in her element. With skis on her feet she feels comfortable and realizes that she can do almost anything. This awareness makes her overcome the fears that, like everyone else, she faces, even in everyday life. È this is how she draws the lines that orient her on the slopes and propel her into the future in life.
