It ends with a clear 4-0 success the home debut in the Champions League 2024/2025 of Inter, which in Matchday 2 of the renewed top European competition defeats Red Star Belgrade without any particular worries, with one goal in the first bars and three in the second half.
The Nerazzurri immediately went in on goal, on 3', with Arnautovic’s winning deflection off Calhanoglu’s free kick, but referee Zwayer cancelled for offside by the Austrian striker. At 11 a.m., however, there's no stopping Inter's lead: another Calhanoglu free kick, this time shot directly at goal, with the ball going over the barrier first and Glazer then for 1-0. Inter's dominance was certified by another goal cancelled out for offside, on 20', this time to Dumfries, and by dangerous chances that happened to be at Mkhitaryan's feet on 22' and 39': the first half still ended with a one-goal gap between the two teams.
In the resumption, Inzaghi’s team resumed on the same groove as in the first half and in 59' made it 2-0: ex-Milanist Krunic had the ball snatched away by Taremi, who saw Arnautovic alone in the box and served him for the most convenient tap-in. There'è space, after the goal, for the entries of Frattesi, Acerbi, Lautaro Martinez and Asllani in place of Mkhitaryan, De Vrij, Arnautovic and Calhanoglu.
Precisely one of the new entrants, Lautaro Martinez, è the protagonist of the 3-0 at 71': another ball recovered by Taremi after a defensive error, this time by Spajic, the Iranian passes it to the 'Toro' who does not tremble in front of Glazer and beats him on the way out.
