Conference League, Fiorentina makes no mistake on debut

Fiorentina’s journey in the Conference League begins with a victory. The Viola, in fact, makes no mistake on its debut and beats the Welshmen of The New Saints 2-0 at the 'Franchi' goals from Adli and Kean, both coming in the second half, decide.

Fiorentina started well but Ikoné gobbled up the lead after four minutes. Seven minutes later Roberts deflects a dangerous left-footed shot by Kouame into a corner. On 22’ è again the visitors’ goalkeeper denied the Viola the lead, taking refuge in the corner on a shot by Beltran. In the final Mandragora, later forced to leave the field due to a knee injury, hit the post with a shot from the limit.

In the second half, the Viola finally managed to break the deadlock: at 65’ Ikoné gets away from a couple of opponents and puts in the center, Kouame smooths but there’è Adli who slots in Roberts with a left-footed saucer. Three minutes later Kean signed the double with an easy tap-in after Roberts had blocked a shot from outside Moreno.

With this victory Fiorentina climbs to three points in the standings, along with as many as 14 teams including Chelsea, Vitoria Guimaraes, Molde, Cercle Brugge, Lugano and Omonia.
