Historic Moto3 world title for David Alonso

There could not have been a better way for David Alonso to take the world title in the Moto3 class. The 18-year-old born in Madrid but racing for Colombia, his mother’s country, racked up his 10th win of the season out of 16 races in the Grand Pemio of Japan at the Motegi circuit.

Alonso, on his CFMoto, showed his superior class and tactical sagacity and in a sprint beat Husqvarna’s Dutchman Collin Veijer and Honda Leopard Racing’s Spaniard Adrian Fernandez in the order. Fourth the’other GasGas Spaniard Daniel Holgado.

With four races to go, Alonso has a 109-point lead right over Holgado and 112 over Veijer, and with 100 points to go, he can’t be caught up anymore. Born April 25, 2006, he made his MotoGP debut at Misano in 2021 and won his first race at Silverstone last year.

Already in 2023, therefore, he had made a name for himself with four races won and four second places and placed third in the championship standings. This year for him è came the consecration: è the first Colombian cmpion of the world and this can è be the springboard of a career that promises to be very bright.
