The international shooting season is drawing to a close, but one last event remains on the calendar, coming just after the conclusion of the Junior World Championships in Lima, an event that gave Italy an individual silver and two team bronzes in the pistol.
At the ISSF World Cup Finals, scheduled Oct. 13-18 in New Delhi, India, the opportunity è for those who è returned disappointed from the Paris trip. This is not è the case of the shooters led by Pierluigi Ussorio, who just in Paris returned the joy of the Olympic medal to the Italian shooting team, with the silver and bronze in the air pistol contest from 10 meters signed by Federico Nilo Maldini and the number 1 in the world ranking Paolo Monna, fresh from his nomination for the award of "Shooter of the year".
In addition to the two pistol shooters, who on the eve of their departure for India scheduled for Friday, Oct. 11, will be guests at the Trento Sports Festival, the other two Italian nationals who were finalists in Paris, Danilo Dennis Sollazzo in the 10-meter air rifle and Massimo Spinella in the automatic pistol contest, will also take part in the World Cup finals.
If for Spinella, the final of the Paris Games represented a turning point in his career as a solid and consistent shooter at the highest level, for Sollazzo, medal hopes were anything but remote. However, the 2022 World Vice Champion has age’on his side and the knowledge that he is among the best “compressors” in the world.
Although he qualified for the World Cup finals, the other rifle shooter present at the Olympic Games, Edoardo Bonazzi, will not be in the match due to unavoidable commitments with the Yellow Flames corps.
