Women’s skiing could also experience a resounding comeback to competition as is about to happen in the men’s sphere, with Marcel Hirscher returning to the snow in a numbered bib: according to reports from the US portal 'Ski Racing', Lindsey Vonn is reportedly working her way back to racing, at the age of 40 and with a serious knee problem now overcome.

Vonn would take advantage, like Hirscher among the men, of the controversial wild-card allocation rule to participate in the CoM. On the other hand, the resume would justify such a choice, since the athlete born and Saint Paul, Minnesota, and raised in Vail, Colorado, has won an Olympic gold medal, two rainbow titles, four overall World Cups and as many as sixteen specialty titles in her career.

Her last World Cup race was on January 10, 2019, a Super-G in Cortina that did not see her make it to the finish line. Physical problems have since convinced her to quit, but the idea of starting again, even more than five years down the road, and then finishing when her head and not her physique decides it would seem to have convinced her.

The U.S. portal cites a reliable source that Vonn has definitively overcome her physical problems with a specific knee surgery and has received the'ok for a return to competition, which would also be desired by one of her sponsors, who are very interested in doing so. All that remains is to wait for the next few days to find out if the list of starters in the Solden giant slalom, the first race of the season of the CoM scheduled on October 26, will also include the name of the American champion.
