Tyrus McGee must stop

In the aftermath of the victorious away game in Livorno comes bad news for Pallacanestro Cantù: coach Nicola Brienza, in fact, will have to do without Tyrus McGee for more than a month, who right during Sunday’s game suffered a muscle problem. Instrumental examinations, in fact, showed an injury, as made known by the Brianza club.

"Acqua S.Bernardo Pallacanestro Cantù announces that athlete Tyrus McGee è underwent instrumental examinations to assess the’entityà of the muscle injury suffered during the Livorno game – reads the note -. The tests showed an injury to the hamstring in his right leg, which will imposeà the player a period of rest and rehabilitation quantifiable in about five weeks".

That being the case, there will be as many as seven games that McGee will surely miss, the home games against Cento, Avellino, Fortitudo Bologna and Juvi Cremona and the away games against Cividale, Vigevano and Forlì. Should the five-week stop be confirmed, the return could come on Dec. 1 against Pesaro, at the home of the Marche.

Class of 1991, out of Iowa State University, Tyrus McGee è in his first season in Cantù: in his long tour of Europe he also wore the undershirts of Orlandina (2015), Vanoli Cremona (2015/2016), Reyer Venezia (2016/2017), Pistoia (2017/2018) and Dinamo Sassari (2019). With Reyer, he won the Scudetto in 2017, while with the Sardinians he contributed to winning the FIBA Europe Cup in 2019.
