The last NBA title won by the Celtics was in 2008

As is tradition, before playing the opening game of the new season, the NBA Champions rings were handed out. This year the event took place at TD Garden where the Celtics, winners of the title last year, celebrated with their audience by raising the 18° banner of NBA Champions and wearing the rings. Boston had not won a Larry O'Brien Trophy since 2008.

Visibly excited were the green-and-white players, particularly Tatum, who had been dreaming of this moment since joining the league. "I can be honest with the best fans in the world: let's do it again", the clear words of the Boston Celtics all-star reported by ESPN.

Then space for the game. Facing the revamped Knicks, billed as one of the favorites to win the NBA title. Boston had no mercy; and it è imposed itself with a dry 132-109, even managing to tie the record for three-point baskets in a single NBA game. The Celtics scored an impressive 29 (a record now co-habited with the Milwaukee Bucks).

On more than one occasion, the Celtics missed the all-time record triple: "Once we started chasing the record, è as if a lid had materialized on the basket", Brown’s amused comment. Regardless, perfect night for the Celtics: rings, pennant and a clear victory over a possible title contender.
