Lucia Bronzetti flies to the quarterfinals in Guangzhou
Lucia Bronzetti-Jaqueline Cristian 7-6 6-4
Lucia Bronzetti repeats herself at the WTA 250 in Guangzhou. After eliminating Armenia's Elina Avanesyan, fourth seed in the first round, the Italian defeated in two hard-fought sets (7-6 6-4) Romanian Jaquelin Cristian, world number 74, in the match valid for the round of 16.
Bronzetti started badly and gave up the serve already in the second game (0-2). The reaction of the Italian però è was immediate: she recovered the disadvantage and went up 4-2, stringing four consecutive games. Cristian, however, does not take it: recovers the break disadvantage and signs the overtaking (5-4). But è the tenth game to make the difference: the Rimini woman cancels as many as six set points to the Romanian and drags the set to the tie-break, winning it by a narrow margin (7-5).
The second set è moreù linear and everything happens at the end: in the seventh game Bronzetti loses her serve (3-4) but Cristian once again fails to extend (4-4), and rather suffers a new partial of the blue woman who wins three games in a row and files the practice on the final 6-4.
Thanks to this success Bronzetti advances to the quarterfinals of the 'Guangzhou Open' in which she will face the winner of the all-Chinese derby between Xiyu Wang, number 99 in the WTA ranking, and Sijia Wei, number 135 in the world rankings.
