Diana Shnaider plays a trick on Anna Kalinskaya

Russian tennis player Diana Shnaider will rise to 12th place in the updated WTA rankings. The 20-year-old Muscovite will improve her position after winning the Hong Kong 250.

In the tournament final, Shnaider got the better of British Katie Boulter. The match, which was not particularly hard-fought and è lasted one hour and 11 minutes, ended with a score of 6-1, 6-2. In the semifinals, the Russian had beaten Fernandez, while Boulter, with more effort, got rid of China’s Yuan.

For the Briton there’è was very little she could do in the face of her unbridled rival, the number 1 seed in the Asian tournament: she couldn’t even build up a break ball, while her opponent, at her fourth career title, converted four break balls out of eleven.

For Shnaider an’additional satisfaction è lies in the fact that in the world ranking she will surpass compatriot, and girlfriend of Jannik Sinner, Anna Kalinskaya. The best of the Russians, among others placed in the top-ten, remains Daria Kasatkina.
