WTA Finals, Jasmine Paolini stays out of semifinals

In the last match of the Purple Group of the WTA Finals in Riyadh Jasmine Paolini, world number 4, è was sharply beaten with a double 6-1 by number 7. Qinwen Zheng, and remains out of the semifinals, to which the Chinese player instead enters.

Zheng’s dominance in the first set: Paolini holds serve in the first game and then loses six consecutive games without having a’counterbreak opportunity.

Jasmine has the first break point in her favor in the first game of the second set but does not exploit it. In the fourth game she goes down 0-40, saves two break points but not the third.

Unfortunately, the 28-year-old from Tuscany suffers another break in the sixth game, misses a break point when the Chinese serves for the match, but soon after the match and also Jasmine’s Finals end after an’hour and 7 minutes of storyless play.
