Champions League, Simone Inzaghi speaks out on Inter’s ambitions
Simone Inzaghi is not hiding
Inter's success over Leipzig è important, in the Nerazzurri’s house, for two factors: first of all, it allows them to keep the positive series active, which after the derby lost last September 22 è came to 12 consecutive useful results (10 wins, 2 draws), then it allows the Nerazzurri to celebrate the lone summit, at least until Liverpool-Real Madrid tomorrow night (only the Reds can overtake the Nerazzurri, Monaco on the other hand canò join them in case of success against Benfica).
Simone Inzaghi è aware of the weight of these three points, also to give further confidence to an environment that wants to return to the top European competition after the 2023 final and the disappointment of last season: "Reaching the final è everyone's goal, even more so for me who coaches Inter's; said the Nerazzurri coach to 'Sky Sport'.
"The competition is very strong and it is not easy to face all these close engagements, playing practically every two and a half days,” he went on to explain.
For my part, I have to thank my players, who are making themselves brilliantly available whenever they are called upon".
Returning to the match against Leipzig, Inzaghi identified an aspect on which to work in the future perspective: "In the last twenty minutes maybe there's been a bit of relaxation, we went down too much – he admitted -. However, we controlled it well, on the other hand I repeat, we play very often and forcing can bring problems".
