ATP Adelaide: Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori fly to the final
The year 2025 could not have started better for Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori. The Italian pair, in fact, beat world number one Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic in a comeback with the final score of 4-6 7-6 10-8 after almost an hour and three quarters of play, centering the final of the Adelaide ATP 250.
In the first set Bolelli/Vavassori did not take advantage of two consecutive break points in the seventh game and were punished at the most beautiful: in the tenth game Arevalo/Pavic scratched the break at the second useful opportunity which coincided with the conquest of the first partial (6-4).
The Salvadoran and the Croatian also go ahead by a break in the second set but here comes the reaction of the Azzurri, who immediately recover the break disadvantage (2-2) and drag the partial to the tie-break, in which they prevail by 7 points to 3.
In the final super tie-break Bolelli and Vavassori get off to a strong start and fly to 7-2 in a flash. Arevalo and Pavic tried to come back, but the Azzurri closed the file on the fifth match point (10-8), giving themselves the first final of the year.
In the last act of the Adelaide International Bolelli and Vavassori will face the German pair formed by Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puez, second seeds and winners of the last ATP Finals in Turin.
