Eurobasket, Sergio Scariolo’s Spain flies to final: challenge France for gold
The final will be Spain-France
Sergio Scariolo’s Spain and Vincent Collet-coached France will be the two national teams competing for the Eurobasket 2022 gold medal.
Spectacular was the semifinal that saw the Iberians come back against the hosts Germany: led by a dominant Lorenzo Brown (29 at the buzzer for him), the men coached by the Brescia coach scored 31 points in the last period, conceding 20 and thus recovering the -6 at the last mini-intermission. Useless, for the Teutonic men, Dennis Schroeder’s 30 points in front of the Berlin crowd.
Facing Spain will be France, Italy’s executioner in the quarterfinals: the transalpines had a tough time against a Poland that was never in the game and was defeated at the end with a bombastic 95-54, in which Yabusele’s 22 points stand out.
Sunday, September 18, will be finals day: Germany-Poland at 5:15 p.m. for the bronze, Spain-France at 8:30 p.m. for the crown of European champion.
