Sofia Goggia, the touching tribute to Elena Fanchini
A touching day in memory of Elena Fanchini. Sofia Goggia also went to Passo del Tonale to honor the memory of her friend, who tragically passed away on Feb. 8, 2023 at not even 38 years of age. The initiative, organized by Nadia and Sabrina, sisters of the late skier, was attended by other former teammates of the Bergamasque and several speed bigwigs active a few days ago in the Sun Valley finals.
It’s Elly Fanchini Day, now in its second year and attended by more than a thousand people in all. “It was a special day, because it gave us the opportunity to honor Elena, embrace her family and get together with so many teammates and former teammates” said Sofia Goggia.
“We have to feel gratitude for the fact that we had her in our lives – added Sofia Goggia about Elena Fanchini -Who we really love never goes away completely. The many, many moments we have spent together, in our careers and in our lives in general” remain.
The Elly Fanchini Day, organized together with the AIRC (Italian Association for Cancer Research), consisted of, among other things, a giant slalom with hundreds of skiers, on the slope together with Italian champions of the present and recent past. “The best way to remember Elena is to find us all together and say thank you for the moments of joy we shared” commented Sofia Goggia.
