The Gators are the new NCAA champions. At the end of a thrilling final, played at the’Alamodome in San Antonio, Florida folded Houston (65-63) and captured what is its third college title.

The Cougars bitterly grumbled as they long cherished the chance to take home the NCAA title. In the finale, Clayton made the difference. The Gators ace, after scoring a whopping 64 points in the previous two games, had great difficulty in the first half. His first point came, in fact, with 14″57 to play in the third period.

Then, however, he found the strength to drag Florida to success, finishing with 11 points and seven assists that earned him the title of MVP of the Final Four. Houston threw away a 12-point lead and had to watch Florida celebrate (Cryer’s 19 points, the final’s top scorer, were not enough).

“Our motto is, we can all do well. We have a team full of guys who can make a difference. It’s not just about me. My team kept me in the game until I could put the ball in the basket. Cheers to the guys”, Clayton’s own words in the post match reported by ESPN.
