A big trouble. Carlos Alcaraz, as reported by Radio Marca, has officially forfeited his participation in the Madrid Masters 1000, a tournament that, in his career, he has won twice (2022 and 2023). The Spaniard is not in condition to take the court, mandatory forfeit.

Carlos Alcaraz is struggling with the aftermath of the injury suffered in the final of the Barcelona tournament lost to Holger Rune. The Spaniard is suffering from an adductor problem in his right leg. An injury that forced him’to give up a tournament he cared so much about.

The Murcian is waiting to hear the outcome of the instrumental tests he underwent to see how long he will have to stay in the pits. In Madrid last year, he had stopped in the quarterfinals, beaten by Andrej Rublev, later winner of the tournament. He will therefore lose a not-so-important number of points from an ATP ranking perspective.

Curiously, just when Jannik Sinner is warming up his engines to return, his main opponent is forced to stop due to a physical problem. It remains to be seen if the Spaniard will be able to return in time for the Internazionali d’Italia, scheduled for May 7-18 in Rome (the first tournament where world No. 1 Jannik Sinner will see action again). Worst case scenario, Carlos Alcaraz will be better prepared for Roland Garros (May 25-June 8).
