Arnaldi went ahead by a vreak in the second game of the match but gave it back immediately. On 2-2 he saves a break ball and instead then on 4-3 in his favor he again snatches the serve from the former world number 1 thus winning the partial at the second ball.
Arnaldi’s second game was a break point.
No break ball in the second set until 3-3, when it is again Matteo who snatches the serve from Nole, in the next game the 24-year-old from Sanremo saves from 0-40 with five points in a row and shortly after brings home the match at the second chance.
Great victory then for Arnaldi, who will face Bosnian Damir Dzumhur in the next round, while the Serb’s defeat, although he should not be given up early, looks like another stage in his slow decline.
