Fatal extras for Fiorentina, Betis Sevilla goes to conference final

Not a third consecutive Conference League final for Fiorentina. The Viola, in fact, after managing to come back from a disadvantage in the’first leg, collapsed in overtime thanks to Ezzalzouli’s goal, which nailed the match at 2-2, thus giving qualification to the Betis Sevilla.
The first chance of the match is for the guests in the 12th minute with Fornals letting off a cross shot with a poisonous trajectory, forcing De Gea to deflect it into the corner. In the 22nd minute came the purple’s response with Comuzzo, who, on the development of a corner, was denied the joy of goal by a providential save on the line by Sabaly.
In the 30th minute came the goal from the guests with Antony who perfectly kicked a free kick that slotted into the cross of the posts. The Viola’s reaction, however, was not long in coming, as four minutes later, Gosens on the development of a corner kick headed in Vietes. Inactive balls prove to be deadly for the hosts, who at the end of the first half find the goal that puts everything back on even terms again with the German side.
In the second half, Kean also showed himself, who managed to finish towards goal in the 62nd minute finding an excellent response from Vietes. As the minutes passed, both teams opted for caution, but in the final minutes chances came from both sides. In the 86th minute, Gosens narrowly missed a hat trick, while in the midst of the recovery it was De Gea who saved his side thanks to a double intervention on Antony and Ezzalzouli.

The first overtime started in the worst way for Fiorentina, which conceded the equalizing goal in the 97th minute: Ruibal received with his back to the goal, worked like a seasoned forward and opened on the right for Antony: service for Ezzalzouli who, two steps away from De Gea, did not miss.
In the second half, Palladino unbalanced further in search of the goal that would take the game to penalties, but the best chances were created by Betis on the counterattack. In the midst of the recovery, in fact, it was the Andalusian team that came very close to the knockout goal again with Ezzalzouli, whose conclusion was stopped only by the woodwork. With the last remaining energy, Fiorentina tried to throw balls into the middle in search of the goal, but Betis defended neatly until the final whistle.
Thanks to the 3-2 aggregate, then, it is Betis Sevilla that will earn the pass to Wrocław, where on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, they will compete for the trophy with Chelsea, who in the other semifinal defeated Djurgarden.
