On Monday, Pope Leo XIV held his first meeting with the press in the Paul VI Hall at the Vatican. The pontiff was pressed by a reporter about the possible organization of a charity tennis match: “Sure, that” the answer.

The reporter then relaunched: “I’ll bring Andre Agassi“ but the pontiff was not caught off guard: “Just don’t bring Jannik Sinner“. The joke immediately went viral among fans of the number 1 ranked Atp and beyond.

Jannik Sinner immediately started again with a victory after the long forced hiatus due to the Clostebol case: the Italian tennis player got rid of Argentina’s Navone in two sets in the 32nd finals of the Rome Internationals. Ivan Ljubicic, former coach of Roger Federer, was certain: “There were no surprises. The match went exactly as we thought it would. Jannik was clearly stronger, but above all he was very polished” he told Sky.

“Of course he was not at his best, but he played his game and brought it home. He calmed down toward the end of the first set, when he realized that Navone had no means to challenge him” concluded the coach.
