PSG-Inter, referee Kovacs: with him Italian always winning in UEFA finals

The referee who will direct the long-awaited Champions League final in Munich between Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan will be Romania’s Istvan Kovacs, who will be assisted by compatriots Mihai Marica and Ferencz Tunyogi, Portuguese fourth official Joao Pedro Silva Pinheiro and VAR official Dennis Johan Higler from the Netherlands.
The match is scheduled for May 31 at 9 p.m. Kovacs has been an international since 2010, and will referee his third European final after the 2024 Europa League final (won by Atalanta against Bayer Leverkusen), and the 2022 Conference League final (won by Roma against Feyenoord).
Kovacs has refereed Inter three times: for the Nerazzurri, two wins (the last Inter-Arsenal 1-0 this season) and one draw. In contrast, PSG has been directed by Kovacs on five occasions, winning three matches and losing two. In 2023 Kovacs was an assistant to Marciniak in the Champions League final won by Manchester City against Inter’Inter.
The referee of the Europa League final Tottenham–Manchester United will be German Zwayer, while the last act of the Conference League between Betis Sevilla and Chelsea will be whistled by Bosnian Pejito.
