Maxi fall during the sixth stage of the Giro d’Italia 2025. The stage from Potenza and Naples was initially neutralized due to a crash with 70 km to go near Baiano, in the province of Avellino, involving 30 riders betrayed by the slippery asphalt.

On the ground also ended Jai Hindley, winner of Giro 2022, who was forced to retire and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Also on the ground were the pink jersey Pedersen, Adam Yates, Carapaz, and other top cyclists, all of whom regained the race. Among those withdrawn was Jai Vine.

The Jury had initially decided to neutralize the stage, because it could not guarantee the safety of the peloton.

After a talk by the bigs with Marco Velo, one of the race directors, the stage was neutralized for only 13 km, and the entire peloton stopped in Nola, at km 166.

The stage restarted with 60 km to go.

The two escapees Van den Hoorn and Paleni started with a 47-second lead over the peloton, which was the time they had at the time of the maxi crash. Instead, all the times valid for the general classification were cancelled, which will remain unchanged. Only the stage victory will count.
