After losing the Coppa Italia final with Bologna, AC Milan, with the defeat suffered all’Olimpico against Roma, is officially out of any European competition. A very hard blow, the’umpteenth in a season that, Italian Super Cup aside, has been decidedly unsuccessful.

The last time the Diavolo stayed out of Europe was in the 2019/20 season but, in that circumstance, the exclusion was due to irregularities related to Financial Fair Play. Instead, this time, the demerit is exclusively sporting. Milan failed to find a way to qualify even for the Conference League.

All are under indictment. From the club to the players, passing, of course, also to Conceiçao who, after a great start (Italian Super Cup won), has gone astray. However, the Portuguese coach is convinced that it is not all to be thrown away.

“I am not saying it was a good season or 5 perfect months, absolutely. But positive things have also been done. We won a title, we got to a final where we could have done more, that’s true. I think in the key games it was always the details or individual mistakes. In Zagreb an ejection, with Feyenoord another ejection. These are matches that then bring an environment that is already not easy. Then with all these episodes. It is a year that is not good for a historic team like Milan. Everyone has to evaluate his work”, the words of Conceiçao himself released to DAZN.
