Ducati, Gigi Dall'Igna: "Pecco Bagnaia must be helped on a human level"

Ducati general manager Gigi Dall’Igna to Dazn analyzed the situation in the Ducati box after the first six races of the year.
Marc Marquez has won three Sunday races, and has come out on top in all six sprint races on Saturday. The Catalan rider is at the top of the world standings, while teammate Pecco Bagnaia is just third, 51 points behind, with just one win and zero claims in the sprints.
A clear gap that is weighing on the shoulders of the Piedmontese rider: “Pecco is an exceptional person and has given a lot, but at this stage he is experiencing difficulties and it is our duty to help him. Like all great champions they are people who need both help on the technical side but also on the human side”.
“The most important thing in a champion is the head, because when the mind is in the right place everything comes easier and you understand better where to intervene and what to do. Right now we need him as much as he needs us, because we would like to have two great champions fighting to win races”.
Dall’Igna, however, pointed out that Bagnaia has paradoxically done better than in recent years: “This is his best start of his entire career and even when he won the two world championships he had never started like this. He needs time to get everything right and he needs races to find rhythm”.
