Richard Carapaz (EF Education-Easypost) won the 11th stage of the Giro d’Italia 2025, a stage that took the Carovana Rosa from Viareggio, Tuscany, to Castelnovo ne’ Monti, in the Apennines of Reggio Emilia. The Ecuadorian rider, winner of the Giro in 2019, arrived alone at the finish line, ahead by 10″ of the top group in the standings ruled by Isaac Del Toro (UAE Team Emirates XRG), who remains in the pink jersey.

In the Top 10 of the day, we note the third place of Giulio Ciccone (Lidl-Trek), the sixth of Antonio Tiberi (Bahrain Victorious), the seventh of Spanish Juan Ayuso, Del Toro’s teammate and, at least on paper, designated captain, as well as the tenth position conquered by Diego Ulissi (XDS Astana Team), who after stage 8 had worn for a fraction the symbol of the primacy in the general classification.

A ranking that changes slightly given the 6″ rebate at the finish won by Del Toro: Ayuso thus moves to 31″ gap, Tiberi to 1’07”, Simon Yates (Team Visma-Lease a Bike) to 1’09” and Primoz Roglic (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) to 1’24”. Carapaz, on the other hand, is sixth in the ranking, 1’56” behind the Mexican.

Thursday the Giro d’Italia starts again from Emilia, more precisely from Modena: after a 172-kilometer route without any particular roughness, it will arrive in Viadana, in the Lombard part of the Po Valley. Two climbs are planned, both of them third-category and quite far from the finish line: the sprinters who manage to overcome them will be able to play for stage success.
