It’s Alex Marquez, on the Team Gresini Ducati, who set the best time in the MotoGp class as far as Friday’s second session at the Silverstone circuit, site of the British Grand Prix. The Catalan rider was only 47 thousandths better than Fabio Quartararo (official Yamaha), while Jack Miller (Yamaha Pramac) set the third best time, however, 347 thousandths behind the Ducatista.

For the two standard bearers of the official Ducati, Marc Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia, it was not a session to remember: the number 93, although he managed to snatch the fourth best time, was the protagonist of a fall in the initial part of the tests, while the Piedmontese did not go beyond seventh place, 408 thousandths behind Alex Marquez, placing behind Marco Bezzecchi (official Aprilia) and Fabio Di Giannantonio (Ducati VR46).

Completing the Top 10, and thus qualifying directly for Saturday’s Q2, are Johann Zarco (Castrol Honda LCR), Alex Rins (official Yamaha) and Fermin Aldeguer (Ducati Gresini). The others will have to face Q1: among them Italians Franco Morbidelli (Ducati VR46, 15th), Luca Marini (official Honda, 16th), Enea Bastianini (KTM Tech3, 18th) and Lorenzo Savadori (official Aprilia, 20th).

On Saturday, May 24, at 12:10 p.m. Italian time, the last free practice session will start, followed by Q2 and Q1, which will end at about 1:30 p.m. The Sprint Race is scheduled at 5 p.m. and will be run over the 10-lap distance. Sunday 25 will instead be the day of the Grand Prix, which the MotoGp riders will face from 2 p.m. Italian time on the 20-lap distance.
