Giro d’Italia 2025: Prodhomme wins stage 19, Del Toro remains in pink

The nineteenth stage of the Giro d’Italia 2025 went from Biella to Champoluc. One of the toughest fractions of this edition. Frenchman Nicolas Prodhomme triumphed, the author of a courageous and lonely action on the Col de Joux, which allowed him to cross the finish line as the winner, after a grueling day of legendary climbs and breathless attacks.
The course put even the most experienced riders to the test: five Grands Prix de la Montagne, nearly five thousand meters of elevation gain, and a finale that inexorably selected the peloton. After a first neutralized breakaway, it was on the Col Tzecore that the breakaway peloton formed with important names like Tiberi and Pello Bilbao. The pace became fierce and Scaroni took the GPM, but it was on the Col de Joux that the decisive breakthrough came: Prodhomme detached Verona and Tiberi and sprinted alone to victory.
The UAE Emirates coolly managed the race, imposing a steady pace without ever losing control of the pink jersey group, which gradually thinned to just twelve riders on the final climb. Attacks by Carapaz and Pellizzari did not dent Prodhomme’s lead, which held out until the finish.
On the finish line in Champoluc, the Frenchman celebrates a well-deserved success. Behind him Del Toro and Carapaz finish second and third respectively, gaining precious seconds in the overall standings. The Mexican remains in the Pink Jersey and stretches in the standings.
