Cremonese returns to Serie A, Spezia beaten

After two years of purgatory, Cremonese is back in Serie A: it is the third team to be promoted to the top league after Sassuolo and Pisa.

In the final round of the playoffs in fact, the team led by Giovanni Stroppa after the 0-0 first leg beat Spezia, which had preceded it to third place in the league, 3-2 away from home at the Stadio Alberto Picco.

The grigiorossi took the lead in the 25th minute: a long throw by Vasquez found De Luca, who stoppped and then beat Gori with his left as he came out. The doubled in the 62nd minute with Collocolo, who backheeled Gori beautifully on an assist from Vandeputte.

At the 80′ the tris: Azzi tries the right, Gori miraculously rejects but the ball ends up on the feet of De Luca, who backs it into the net. Here the Ligurians attempt a desperate comeback: in the 83rd minute Franceco Pio Esposito scores on an assist from his brother Salvatore.

The goal is scored in the 83rd minute.

At 85′ Vignali further shortens the distance on a pass from Kouda. Twelve minutes of added time were not enough for the hosts to pull off the miracle: Vignali was sent off in the 95th minute, on the other side Nasti in the 99th minute. Cremonese goes to Serie A.
