Virtus Bologna, cup in hospital for Achille Polonara

On Wednesday afternoon Marco Belinelli, Toko Shengelia and Ale Pajola visited Achille Polonara, hospitalized at Sant’Orsola-Malpighi Hospital for myeloid leukemia. With them they brought the seventeenth Scudetto cup won Tuesday in the challenge against Brescia.

In recent days Erika Bufano, Polonara’s wife, dedicated a touching letter to him: “I am sure we will overcome this battle too. You are a rock my rock”.

“Fight as only you know how to do love with that smile always on your face, with your grit and determination that have always distinguished you. I need you for my whole life so be brave and patient we will put this bad time behind us. I love you immensely”

Also Giovanni Petrucci, president of the Italian Basketball Federation, paid a visit to the Virtus champion: “He intended to testify the affection of the whole Italian basketball movement towards Achille by expressing words of solidarity, encouragement and support. Fip embraces Achille and his family at this special moment” reads the FIP note.
