Club World Cup 2025: Seattle Sounders-Atletico Madrid, the likely lineups

Seattle’s Lumen Field is preparing to welcome the Sounders, home favorites, and Atletico Madrid: the match scheduled for the second day of Group B of the 2025 Club World Cup pits two teams defeated in the opening match against each other, with Seattle outplayed 2-1 by Botafogo and the Colchoneros demolished by PSG, a 4-0 winner.
Brian Schmetzer, coach of the Seattle Sounders, will go for a rather offensive form, a 4-2-3-1 with Rothrock the main point of reference of the attack and the trio composed of Ferreira, Rusnak and Kent behind him. In the midfield will be Cristian Roldan, author of the flagship goal against Fogão in the match played last June 16.
On the other side, the desire for revenge is strong for Diego Simeone and his men: without the disqualified Lenglet, with Gimenez in the center of defense along with Le Normand in the ‘Cholo’s 4-4-2, Atletico is banking on the attacking duo of Antoine Griezmann and Julian Alvarez to unhinge the Rave Green defense and revive their qualification ambitions.
Probable lineups
SEATTLE SOUNDERS (4-2-3-1): Frei; A. Roldan, Bell, Ragen, Nouhou; Vargas, C. Roldan; Ferreira, Rusnak, Kent; Rothrock. All. Schmetzer.
ATLETICO MADRID (4-4-2): Oblak; Llorente, Le Normand, Gimenez, Galan; G. Simeone, De Paul, Koke, Lino; Griezmann, Alvarez. All. D. Simeone.
