F1, Lewis Hamilton: George Russell doesn’t mince words
George Russell candid about Lewis Hamilton
It is proving to be anything but an apprenticeship for George Russell’s first full season in Mercedes: the 1998-class driver has surprised in terms of continuity of performance and, in the first 16 races this season, has also finished on the podium once more than a teammate to whom comparing himself is always rather uncomfortable, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.
Interviewed by ‘Auto Motor und Sport,’ Russell spoke candidly about his relationship with Hamilton and the fact that they are friends but at the same time rivals within the Brackley-based stable: “I’m happy with my results,” he said, “while he has had a downturn compared to previous years, on the other hand we were aware that there was no guarantee of a strong car this year. But Lewis is hungry, developing the car with the new rules is a challenge motivates him even more. I’m sure he will be back among the top and will stay there for a long time. I don’t see him slowing down.”
