At the Now Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, near Chicago, Italy began the second phase of the men’s Nations League by beating Poland, which had won four out of four matches, 3-2.
25-17 23-25 21-25 25-20 15-11 were the set scores in favor of Ferdinando De Giorgi’s Azzurri in a hard-fought match against the European champions.
For Italy 19 points from Michieletto, 15 from Galassi, 13 from Romanò, 11 from Rychliki and 10 from Gargiulo, for Poland 20 from Szlpuk, 19 from Semeniuk, 12 from Sasak, 11 from Nowak and 10 from Jakubiszak.
Tomorrow the Azzurri will have a day off and return to the court at 11 p.m. Italian time against China.
