Settecolli, Italian record in the 50 breaststroke for Ludovico Viberti

The second day of the Trofeo Settecolli in Rome immediately provides entertainment. Taking center stage is Ludovico Blu Art Viberti, who in the 50 breaststroke sets an Italian record by swimming 26”27 erasing the 26″33 sealed by Nicolò Martinenghi for the continental title in Rome 2022.

The 23-year-old from Piedmont is the world best performance of the year, and tonight he will aim for an encore after taking the scepter in the 100 on opening night. Also doing well was Benedetta Pilato, who set the best time – going under 30” in her own breaststroke battery – in 29”99 taking her pass to the finals, as did Sara Curtis who in the 100 style swam in 54″17.

Accessing the finals is also Carlos D’Ambrosio who swims the 100 freestyle in 48″60, five hundredths shy of the personal best of 48″55 set in 2024 at the Italian category championships, ahead of Hungary’s Nandor Nemeth in 48″66 and Thomas Ceccon in 48″68. Also entering the finals then are Alberto Razzetti, Federico Burdisso and Sara Franceschi, among others, who will try to impress in the competitions starting at 6 p.m. at the Foro Italico.
