Jasmine Paolini, world number 4, was decisively beaten in the first semifinal of the WTA 500 on the German grass of Bad Homburg by Polish former number 1 and now number 8 Iga Swiatek with a score of 6-1 6-3 in just over an hour of play.

The first set is literally dominated by Swiatek, who has break points in each of Paolini’s four service games and breaks three, instead losing only three points in her three games of serve.

Finally Jasmine in the first game of the second set makes a break, but immediately gives it back by losing the serve to zero. The brea that finally closes the games in Swiatek’s favor comes at 3-2 in favor of the former world number 1

Iga does not have the slightest problem holding the remaining two turnovers and closing out the match at the fourth good opportunity. She will now face the winner of the other semifinal between Jessica Pegula of the United States and Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic, and on Monday she will overtake Jasmine at world No. 4.
