European team championships, Nadia Battocletti and Italy shine in Madrid

A fine Italy finished in third place on the second day of the European Team Championships in Madrid, preceded by Spain (just one point in favor of the Iberians) and the Netherlands (ahead by 32.5).

One individual victory, that of Nadia Battocletti in the 5,000 meters (15:56.01), two second places for Francesco Pernici in the 800 meters (with the personal best brought to 1:44.39) and Simone Biasutti in the triple (also for him PB, 16.94), and two fourth places of considerable technical significance, both achieved in the 400 meters by Anna Polinari (50.76, second Italian performance ever) and Edoardo Scotti (44.93, third national performance all-time).

In the final day, the’injury suffered by Lorenzo Patta in the 100 meters (finished on pace) heavily affects the team standings. Tomorrow, third day of competition: in the field, among others, Mattia Furlani, and European champions Lorenzo Simonelli and Sara Fantini.
